"Sitting is the new smoking" is a term coined to describe our current epidemic of seated desk jobs, and studies show that prolonged sedentary time is associated with cardiovascular diseases as well as mortality.
Fortunately, a study by Diaz (2017) recommends two factors that can improve your quality of life and reduce the risk of these cardiovascular diseases:
1) Try to minimize your sitting time to bouts of under 29 minutes, then get up, grab a cup of water, walk to the bathroom, or simply do a few minutes of stretching.
2) Do Exercise as exercise has been shown to be one of the few factors to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease conferred from prolonged sedentary sitting.
But if ever getting up from your chair and moving around the office proves difficult in your work setting, we have designed a quick exercise program that can be done right from your office chair!
It takes only a few minutes! Try it out!
